Seeds are alive! Yep! They’re just dormant. Inside is a little embryo waiting for the conditions to be just right to grow and emerge. This embryo can die in a few ways… moister will cause it to rot! Heat can cause it to dry up. The longer you wait to plant, the likelihood of mortality goes up.
To achieve a higher germination rate for your little seeds, store them in a cool, dry, dark place. Rule of thumb is to plant them within two to three years of collection for a successful growth.
