Pollination is a critical component of a plants reproduction cycle. Whereas runners, rooting trimmings and cuttings, separating clumps, bulbs and tubers are a way to reproduce a clone or grow the exact same plant…. Pollination rather is the act of two plants coming together to create seeds that will grow into a completely different plant. Half the genetic makeup of each plant that contributed to its conception.
Plant breeders could spend years trying to come up with the “perfect” plant with selective pollination and then retailers and nurseries will just clone it.
